Grantsville 175th "Old Folks Sociable, " March 28

A wonderful tradition in Grantsville, the sociable brings the community together every year to socialize, share talents, enjoy a night out and honor those in the community that are 75+ years old.  I think the best part about it is getting to know different people in the community through service on various committees.  Joe and I have served on two different committees through our 7 years here--the 5k committee and the Children's Sociable committee (our favorite part of the Sociable).  I have also displayed some of my quilts in the "Arts" section and this year Courtnee and I helped our friend, Annette Baird, put together a hall display on Homecoming.  Joe and I went to the Sociable with our friends, Jason and Kelly Hill, and enjoyed the program and a nice dinner together.

The Children's Sociable is my favorite part of Sociable time.  Children, 18 and younger, audition for the program and then perform five times.  It is a long day, but a lot of fun.  We have had one or more of our girls in the Children's Sociable every year...except this year.  They usually perform with their dance or gymnastics group.  Last year, Courtnee and two of her friends played an amazing violin number!  This year, Lainey and two of her friends auditioned for a very cute piano trio, but they weren't chosen (although they were great!).  Riley loves participating in it the most and even though she didn't perform this year, she did help with one of the groups so she got to be a part of it.

The Sociable is one of the things I LOVE about living in Grantsville!
