This is the current stack on my nightstand and what I have been reading for the last three months! Most of them I have read at least twice and some more than that. Here's the list of the nightstand books:
The Art of Mending by Elizabeth Berg
Lincoln by Gore Vidal
Dark Angel by Robert Kirby
A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini
A Joyful Mother of Children by Linda Eyre
New Genesis: A Mormon Reader on Land and Community, ed. by Terry Tempest William's, William B. Smart, and Gibbs M. Smith
Heroines of the Restoration, ed. by Barbara B. Smith and Blythe Darlyn Thatcher
Joseph Smith and the Restoration by Ivan J. Barrett
Mary and Joseph by Robert Marcum
The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion
The Last Chinese Chef by Nicole Mones
Daughters of God: Scriptural Portraits by S. Michael Wilcox
A Hammock Beneath the Mangoes, ed. by Thomas Colchie
Stop Whining, Start Living by Dr. Laura Schlessinger
This is just a tiny portion of the books we own, but I am always reading and if I have any kind of a vacation, I have a stack of books with me. With this is mind, Joe gave me an amazing gift for Christmas--a Kindle. I had never heard of one, but it is amazing. It is an electronic device that uses cell phone technology to access over 200,000 books as well as newspapers, magazines. blogs, etc. Keep in mind that I have an ongoing love/hate relationship with electronic devices--love my Ipod and the bare mininum of my cell phone, hate cords, texting, and sleeping with Joe's PDA! But, I really like the Kindle. I read an entire book on it last Sunday, the Maytrees by Annie Dillard, and I kept trying to turn the pages because I forgot I wasn't holding an actual book. I think this is one electronic device I will love. And Joe will never have to hear me say, "I need something to read!"
