Courtnee's Birthday: Happy and Sad

Courtnee turned 18 on March 24. She is happy because she is officially an adult, she is closer to going to college, she is almost done with high school, and it is fun to get presents and cake and flowers and attention and spend the day eating your favorite foods and watching your favorite movies. I am happy because she is happy and has turned into such an amazing woman.

I don't think she is really sad about being 18. I'm sad because this entire last year has held so many "last times," as in this might be the last time I get to fix Courtnee a birthday breakfast on her birthday. I'm also sad because my children getting older means I'm getting older. I don't feel older (I definitely look older), but if I have an 18 year-old daughter, than I AM getting older.

Happy Birthday Courtnee!! Although it is bitter sweet for me also. If you are getting older I must be getting older. Lucky for me I will always be younger than your mom!
