English Sterling Scholar!

Courtnee was chosen as her school's English Sterling Scholar in December. The Sterling Scholar award is given to students that excel in particular subjects on a school, region, and state level. The competition was tough and just making it to this first level is a major achievement! She will go on to compete in region in April and then if she wins there, she will compete on the state level. An exciting part of winning for her was the cash award she received. An exciting part of her winning for me was watching her experience something I did 25 years ago when I was the English Sterling Scholar for my school. We pulled my old portfolio out to look at it and I realize that I could never have competed with her or any of her classmates! They are amazing! There are so many students with 4.o, high ACT scores, and incredible accomplishments. And they are all so well-rounded. They achieve great things in the arts, sports, scholarship, leadership, service. It is a great privilege for Courtnee to be a part of all that!
