Be Thankful You're not a TURKEY!

As Thanksgiving approaches, our turkey project has come to an end! Lainey and Riley finished raising their turkeys, selected the ones they liked best, and attended the State and County auctions and sold their turkeys. Lainey was really good at catching the turkeys, the only one in our family that did, and the rest of us helped carry and weigh them before loading them in trailers to go to the processing plant.

The turkey shows were a lot of fun and the girls' first experience at an auction. They were thrilled with the outcome--they made over $500 each--and they've decided that it was worth the stinky smell and being scared of the big turkeys. My favorite turkey was the one I saw at Build-a-Bear and I couldn't resist. It even gobbles just like the real turkeys. Our favorite family turkey will be the one we eat on Thanksgiving day!

These pictures bring back terrors from my childhood. My grandma's neighbor had a HUGE turkey that would chase me when I'd come to visit! I don't blame your girls for being afraid of them!!
