"Smiley Riley"

Riley just finished her 8th grade year and is looking forward to high school next year. I told her that she wasn't allowed to go until she weighed at least 100 lbs., but she is barely over 80. She is only about 2 inches shorter than me, though so maybe she will start to put on some pounds. She has had a great year and finished with a bang!

Riley's 14th birthday was May 26 and we had a fun family celebration all day. We started with breakfast at Jim's and ended with her requested dinner: pasta with meat sauce, garlic cheese bread, and ceaser salad. We followed that with a made-from-scratch marble cake that we ate while we watched National Treasure 2. She and I went shopping the week before to get her new clothes, shoes, jewelry, etc. and we gave her an I-Home, Stephanie Meyer's new book, The Host, and some CDs and a new church outfit to wear to church dances. She also had her friend, Abby Beazer, sleep over on Friday night and they "hung out" and ate lots of junk!

Besides her birthday, she also participated in the Jr. High track meet and got a 3rd place ribbon for her participation on the relay team. WAY TO GO!

Riley has LOVED the drama program this year and did a great job as an head Oompa Loompa in the Jr. High Musical where she got to sing, dance, and shine in the spotlight. SUPERSTAR RILEY!

She wrapped up her service as 8th grade class president by giving a welcome speech at graduation where she graduated and received an honor's award for having a cummulative GPA over 3.5. She also scored a 94% on the English section of her core test. SMARTY PANTS!

She finished all of this off by having her top braces removed the week after school--they will put them back on for a few months in about a year, after they have finished correcting her bite. SMILEY RILEY!

Happy Birthday Riley! I'm so excited to have you in Mia Maids! Don't feel bad about the weight, Steve will be a Junior, and he still isn't 100 pounds!
